One of the detained poachers died.
The head of the inquiry department of the FSB border control in the Primorsky Territory (Russia) Vladimir Krasnov said that the North Korean poachers during the detention showed such fierce resistance, because they were afraid of losing the ship.
“Such fierce resistance to law enforcement officers is caused by the fact that for such offenses, according to our legislation, the confiscation of the vessel is threatened. And, as you know, in North Korea it is the property of the state, in connection with which the DPRK citizens are threatened by their domestic law with the loss of this property,” — said Krasnov, quoted by Interfax.
Earlier it was reported that one of the detained poachers died. In total, more than 160 fishermen were detained. During the detention, four Border Guard officers were injured; they received injuries of varying severity, one of which was a gunshot wound.
